UPSL Announces Texas Expansion with Deportivo Alacranes Fort Worth

Founded in 2010, Fort Worth (Texas)-Based Pro Development Club Joins UPSL

July 25, 2019 – Los Angeles – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is pleased to announce Deportivo Alacranes Fort Worth as a member kicking off with the 2019 Fall Season.

Based in Fort Worth (Texas), Deportivo Alacranes Fort Worth will begin UPSL play in the Central Conference North Section and host its UPSL home games at West Park (Hickman Road, Fort Worth, TX 76108) in compliance with UPSL's Minimum Standards.

United Premier Soccer League National Director Matt Kahla said, "We're excited to welcome Deportivo Alacranes Fort Worth to UPSL Division III. Owner and Head Coach Francisco Chairez is well-respected in the Dallas-Fort Worth soccer circles, and his club will make a terrific addition to the Central Conference's North Section. We look forward to seeing the talented players of Deportivo Alacranes Fort Worth, and we wish them success as the get ready to play this Fall Season."

Francisco Chairez is Co-Owner and Head Coach of Deportivo Alacranes Fort Worth. A native of Durango, Mexico, Chairez has spent more than 15 years in Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex construction industry.

Saul Chairez is Co-Owner and General Manager of Deportivo Alacranes Fort Worth. A graduate of Fort Worth (Texas)'s Castleberry High School, Chairez is an employee of DHL International.

Deportivo Alacranes Fort Worth General Manager Saul Chairez said, "My Dad said, 'We're going to this to help get players ready.' Some players done get the chance to take the next step up in competitive levels, and that's why Deportivo Alacranes Fort Worth is here. This is exactly the level the he wants Deportivo Alacranes to be at because he knows that if you want to start something good in American soccer you do it in the UPSL. The UPSL is the first step for a career in soccer for a lot of young players who could go on to play internationally. In the UPSL you have more of a chance to play, and that means everything."

Deportivo Alacranes Fort Worth began as a single Boys 2000 youth team and in 2015 was ranked as high as No. 5 in Texas by U.S. Youth Soccer. After a one-year hiatus, the team re-united and has been participating in the Fort Worth Premier League (USASA) since 2018.

The club soon will announce its upcoming game schedule.

Deportivo Alacranes Fort Worth is an American Soccer club currently based in Fort Worth, Texas, and a new member of the United Premier Soccer League. Deportivo Alacranes Fort Worth will begin play in the UPSL Central Conference.

Founded in 2010, Deportivo Alacranes Fort Worth can participate in the qualifying rounds for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup through their affiliation and membership with the UPSL, the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).

United Premier Soccer League

The UPSL was formed in 2011 and currently includes more than 300 teams in Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin. UPSL is the fastest growing Pro Development League in the USA, with 400-plus teams targeted for 2019 Fall Season. Each UPSL team is individually owned and operated, and is responsible for maintaining either UPSL Pro Premier Division or Championship Division minimum standards.

UPSL teams are all eligible to participate in the U.S. Open Cup Qualifying Rounds through the leagues affiliation with the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
